Hey Jody,

 

 I’ve been taking a somewhat more sober perspective on the issue of global warming in general along with our conversations in particular.

 

 After my last reply on the subject I thought I'd put the issue aside and headed for the old watering hole. I was just driving along and as often happens, my inner voice said why have you become so determinedly glib toward the subject Clyde? I didn’t need to grope for the answer, although I hadn’t given it any prior thought, I knew that my ironic satire is the survival response of one who has accepted defeat. However; although I’ve subsided from outrage there remains a deep sadness.

 

  Sometime ago I started to view the institutions of Science, Philosophy and Art as entities; And as such, each in its own right, as a gifted child of mankind. Needless to say there is an element of the obnoxious, snot-nosed spoiled brat that arises from this view. That alone would explain my contempt for secular science, along with my disgruntled attitude toward all three of the aforementioned entities; But wherefrom the deep sadness?

 

 I seem to have been born with a love for Science, the kind that is of childlike wonder and awe. Alas I was also a tad retarded in some respects and my learning disabilities prevented me from perusing Science beyond that which just came natural to me.

 

 And so I’ve realized that I accepted my fate and my station in life. Hence I loved Science from afar, like a boy who admires a girl who is far out of his class. I feel fortunate in that I’m the kind of guy that can admire and appreciate something that I could never attain. And so I just went on viewing Science as though it were a majestic, dignified and trustworthy lady, celebrating her achievements in my own way.

 

 WHY THE SADNESS? Well not only have a bunch of snot-nosed pretentious bastards had their way with my lady; my lady herself has become somewhat the whore with no shame.

 

 And so it is that the Global Warming Swindle – documentary, gives me a bit of solace, because I saw therein that the bitch has, at least, got a few brothers who do not condone her behavior.    

 

And if we want to be inflammatory I could add. That not only has my lady become somewhat the whore, theoretical Science has become naught but a bloated pig that grunts, squeals and jostles for its place at the government trough. 

 

Science has become all to wont and willing to sustain itself on political swill. I’ve begun to wonder if the establishment clause ought be amended to include secular science, since it has become counterpart with religion. It should state, “Congress shall establish no Theoretical Science”. And I believe there need be the separation of Theoretical science, from that of technological-practical science, requisite for National Defense. Theoretical Science is too often a matter of faith, from the side of the populous and too often panders to popular opinion from the side of the scientist who is seeking public funding.
